SEISS: second grant claim closes on 19 October 2020

Further to the Government's announcement that this scheme would be extended, the second grant claim closes on 19 October 2020.

This is for those who have been adversely affected by the coronavirus pandemic on or after 14 July 2020.

If you qualify, you will be able to claim a grant worth 70% of your average monthly trading profits for three months. This will be capped at £6,570 and will be paid out in a single instalment.

Who is eligible to claim?

The eligibility criteria for this second grant is exactly the same as the first.

However, on the basis that some individuals may have only been more recently affected by the pandemic, you will not need to have claimed the first grant in order to receive the second.

In order to claim you must have been in a trade 'adversely affected' by the coronavirus - for examples of various scenarios of this, please click here to be redirected to GOV.UK. It is important that you have evidence to support your claim and that you keep a record of this.

You must also meet all of the following:

  • You must have traded in the 2018/19 tax year and have submitted your self assessment tax return on or before 23 April 2020 for that year
  • You must have traded in the tax year 2019/20
  • You must intend to continue trading in the 2020/21 tax year
